How to structure your Volunteering or Internship project?
Everything You Need to Know
The Project Focus
In Volunteering, you can choose projects in environmental conservation, community support, teaching, animal welfare, among others. For Internships, it is always best to focus on your field of study (marketing, finance, engineering, design, hospitality).
Eligibility and Requirements
Do you speak English or the country’s native language? Does the project require any specific qualification? Do you need to be a university student or a recent graduate?
The Duration
There is great flexibility. There are volunteer projects starting from 2 weeks and professional internships lasting from 1 to 6 months (ideal for your Gap Year or university summer holidays).
Local Logistics
Define the destination, the type of accommodation (shared residences, volunteer houses, or apartments), and the level of continuous local support you will have while you are away.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
It depends on the field and the format. There are paid professional internships as well as short-term internships focused on building your CV that may be unpaid. It is important to check if they provide support such as accommodation or transportation.
Usually not. Volunteer projects look for attitude, empathy, and a willingness to help. Upon arrival, you will receive local training and guidance from coordinators so you know exactly how you can support the project’s daily tasks.
For the vast majority, yes. The registration fee for volunteer programs usually covers your accommodation (in volunteer houses or local families) and main meals, while also directly funding the social or environmental project you will be collaborating with. However, this can vary depending on the institution and/or project.
Yes, absolutely. Although you travel independently, you will never be alone. Upon arriving at your destination, you will join a group of volunteers or interns from all over the world, and you will always have a local coordinator from the organization.
It depends on your passport and your destination country. Within Europe (if you are European), it is a direct, visa-free process. For destinations outside the EU, we guide you on the correct visa (student, volunteer, or Working Holiday) and point out the required documentation.
To secure the best spots and handle all the logistics without pressure (especially if the destination requires a visa), ideally you should start planning 3 to 6 months in advance. However, if you want to travel during the very next holiday break, talk to us so we can check for any last-minute spots that might still be available.
