There is always a belief that when choosing higher education, we should opt for courses that bring stability and a good salary. What we truly love doing is rarely taken into account. This great and incredible opportunity that StudyWing provided me with was and continues to be the best experience of my life. This “adventure” made me more responsible, autonomous and independent. I learned several new things, got a small taste of what adult life is like, and on top of that, significantly improved my English.
Brooke House College, despite being a “summer school”, does not feel much like a school, which was a pleasant surprise. The mentors and management give us freedom and trust us, as long as we show that we deserve that trust. The staff are friendly, warm and welcoming, always available to help, with our safety and physical and emotional well-being as their priority.
Our schedule is packed, with lessons in the morning and varied activities in the afternoon. The weekends are reserved for excursions to all kinds of places across England. This experience offers a unique opportunity to make new friends, which often become lifelong friendships. I admit that, at first, it is difficult to break the ice, especially for those who are more introverted, but everyone is in the same situation, making forming new friendships inevitable.
With a stay of just two weeks, I made so many friends of different nationalities, with whom I am still in touch and hope to remain so. The facilities are very nice, with single and shared bedrooms, which makes it easier to start new friendships.
Overall, it was the best event of my life, opening so many doors to a future with broader horizons. With this international and intercultural experience, at 15 years old I reached a level that many adults have not yet had the privilege to achieve. StudyWing provided me with a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

To the other students from my school, I would like to share a few facts and tips:
Plan everything down to the last detail! What you need to pack, what needs to be sorted beforehand, and most importantly, how to pack your entire life into a suitcase. If you come to the UK, don’t worry about bringing summer clothes… you won’t need them, haha.
Ask your mum for the recipes of your favourite meals. Believe me, you will miss them!
You will learn to manage your money; it might take a few months, but you can do it.
LAUNDRY! Your enemy, haha. Ask your mum to explain colours and temperatures.
Overall, the first few months will be a lot of fun because everything is new and you will discover many things you are good at and… many others you need to learn how to do. English will become your second language, which is pretty cool, but you will also get excited every time you meet someone Portuguese!
It is an amazing experience and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world! I have so many friends and memories that will stay with me forever, but above all, I cannot imagine my life any other way.

Summer Course

The course in London had many positive aspects. I went there with two main goals: to understand what it is like to study medicine at university and to improve my English, and I feel that I achieved both of these major goals. It was very positive that, in addition to having theoretical classes on anatomy concepts, we also had educational visits and practical lessons, where they taught us how to suture, for example!
The activity I liked the most was the day we visited King’s College Hospital, where we had the experience of treating robots that displayed certain symptoms, and we had to figure out, on our own, the patient’s problem and how to solve it. The classes we had on ethics were also very interesting, helping us understand the complicated situations that doctors are sometimes faced with.
From Immerse’s side, I think the activities outside of class hours were very interesting; they promoted socializing with people from other courses and allowed us to get to know the city of London better. The only slightly negative point I found was the food, as I felt that sometimes the amount of food served to us at dinner was very small, with no option for seconds.
Overall, it was a very rewarding experience, and the opportunity to meet people from other nationalities and backgrounds was very enriching. It is an experience that I highly recommend doing at least once in a lifetime.

At the beginning of my experience studying abroad, I felt a bit lonely. I was in a new environment, far from family and friends, and everything was different. But over time I adapted, made new friends and started exploring the city with them, which made everything feel lighter and more positive.
The main challenges were the language, having to do everything by myself (cooking, cleaning, dealing with everyday tasks) and adapting to how the university works, especially with the digital platforms and the different climate. One of the things that surprised me most about academic life was the lack of formal exams like I was used to, which completely changes the way you study.
So far, my biggest achievements have been passing all my modules with good grades in the first semester, being able to communicate in English with more confidence and, above all, realizing that I am capable of managing on my own in a different country.
My routine is relaxed: I wake up early, I have classes on a few days of the week, and on Friday or Saturday I usually go out with friends, we go to clubs, watch football matches or I run errands for myself.
Something I highly value in this experience is the constant support from Patrícia, from StudyWing. She always showed genuine concern for me, both on an academic and personal level. She helped me solve problems with my accommodation and my studies, and she was essential in making me feel more secure and supported on this journey.

My two-week experience at St. Clare’s in Oxford was simply fantastic. The beauty of the city and its rich history added even more value to this unique experience.

My journey at St. Clare’s was great. As it was my first time in the United Kingdom and being in a country where I wouldn’t have any language support, going to St. Clare’s was one of the best choices I could have made.
St. Clare’s is a renowned English school in Oxford, where many who want to learn the English language come. The welcome provided by the school was excellent, making me feel comfortable from the very beginning. The school organizes activities so that all students can interact and get to know each other. Besides the activities, the most important part was the English classes, where I always learned something in every single one of them—not just the language, but also about British culture. The classroom layout was U-shaped, which made all the students in the room interact with one another.
Although the school itself is very good, the downside was the food, which wasn’t very good. Breakfast was good, but lunch and dinner were not, meaning that most of the time I had to eat out.
As for the accommodation, the rooms were shared with two other students with the aim of fostering interaction between students of different nationalities and learning about their culture.
If I were asked if I would like to return to St. Clare’s for the summer course, I would answer yes with absolute certainty.

For this year, 2024, Mariana had not planned on participating in a summer camp and naturally showed some resistance when we presented her with the possibility. As parents, we were also full of anticipation. On the day my 15-year-old son went to Exponor with his school, I never thought it would result in such a fantastic outcome. He entered a contest and, on the day of the draw, we could hardly believe that he had actually won the opportunity to spread his wings and fly.
It was two months of great excitement and nervousness. I confess there was a lot of fear, but Patrícia always reassured me and guaranteed all the safety in the world. At the beginning of August, I dropped him off at the airport.
